2020
Project brief

As a creative director, designer, and writer, I played a pivotal role in transforming this cherished tradition to meet the unique challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

‍

Adapting to a New Reality

The pandemic necessitated significant changes in how the Angel Tree program operated. To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, we transitioned to a fully contactless system. This involved the creation of an intuitive, web-based platform that allowed for seamless interaction between Angels (students in need) and their sponsors.

‍

Leveraging Social Media and Email Marketing

To maximize the program's reach and ensure a steady influx of sponsors, we utilized a comprehensive digital marketing strategy:

  • Social Media Campaigns: We launched targeted campaigns on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. These campaigns featured heartwarming stories, testimonials from previous years, and calls to action, encouraging people to become sponsors. Engaging visuals and videos were created to capture the essence of the program and its impact, fostering a sense of community and urgency.

‍

  • Email Marketing: A series of carefully crafted emails were sent to our existing donor database and potential sponsors. These emails highlighted the ease of the new contactless process, shared impactful stories of past recipients, and provided clear instructions on how to participate. Personalized messages and follow-ups helped maintain engagement and encouraged repeat sponsorships.

‍

Creating a Seamless Experience

My role encompassed the full spectrum of creative production, from designing the user interface to crafting engaging content that communicated the program's mission and processes clearly. The platform enabled:

‍

  • Contactless Applications: Students could easily apply for assistance through a secure, user-friendly online form.
  • Virtual Sponsorship: Sponsors could browse through anonymous profiles of Angels and select individuals or families to support, all from the safety of their homes.
  • Safe Delivery and Collection: Coordinated logistics ensured that gifts and donations were delivered and collected without physical contact, adhering to health guidelines.
